Water restrictions still a problem

The first area affected by this is Observation Hill, as it is the top point of town and when the water is cut off, the pipes are empty there first, leaving residents without water.Areas hardly ever affected by this are Van Riebeeck Park and the CBD, as they are in the lower part of town and when the water is turned off, it normally takes longer for those pipes to empty. While we enjoy the rain and cool weather in Ladysmith today (Friday), we actually need rain in the catchment area to get our water restrictions lifted. It will, however, take a few days for the water to get to Ladysmith if we do get rain there. As you may have noticed, we had water during our festive season although the water restrictions were still in effect. As businesses closed for the festive season, less water was used by them and residential areas were supplied with water.last_img
